Terms of Use

1. The agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Remote TV Control Universal mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). By installing, accessing or using the Service you confirm that you accept these Terms and that you are legally able to enter into this agreement. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

2. What the app does

The app allows an Apple device to act as a remote control for compatible televisions and streaming devices by sending commands over your local Wi-Fi network. The app is a control interface only. It does not provide, stream, host, decode or distribute any television channels, films, programmes or other media content, and it does not unlock content you are not otherwise entitled to.

3. Compatibility is not guaranteed

The range of televisions the app can control depends on manufacturers, models, firmware versions and network conditions that are outside our control. In particular:

• Apple devices do not include an infrared transmitter, so televisions that accept only infrared commands cannot be controlled.
• Your device and your television must be connected to the same local network.
• Manufacturers may change, restrict or withdraw their network control protocols in a firmware update, which can reduce or remove functionality at any time.
• Individual buttons and features may be unavailable on particular models.

We publish compatibility information in good faith and the app is free to download so that you can verify it works with your own equipment before purchasing anything. We do not warrant that the app will work with any specific device.

4. We are independent

Remote TV Control Universal is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, sponsored by or in any way officially connected to Apple Inc., Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Panasonic, Sharp, Vizio, Toshiba, Roku, Google, Amazon or any other manufacturer or platform. All product names, trademarks and registered trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used solely to describe device compatibility, which constitutes nominative fair use.

5. Your licence

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app to control any device you do not own or do not have permission to control;
• use the app to interfere with, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to any network or device;
• copy, modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it;
• rent, lease, sell, sublicense or redistribute the app;
• remove, obscure or circumvent advertising, subscription checks or other technical protections;
• use automated means to access the Service or to place unreasonable load on it; or
• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable regulation.

Controlling other people's televisions without their consent — in a neighbour's home, a shop or a public venue — may be unlawful. You are solely responsible for how you use the app.

7. Local network permission

The app requires your permission to access devices on your local network. Granting it is your choice, and the app cannot perform its core function without it. You are responsible for securing your own network; anyone with access to it may be able to control devices connected to it.

8. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

• The app is free to download. Optional Premium features are available through auto-renewing subscriptions or one-off in-app purchases.
• The current price, currency and billing period are always shown in the app and confirmed by the App Store before you pay. Prices may vary by country and may change with notice.
• All purchases are processed by Apple and charged to your Apple Account.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before that period ends.
• You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period already paid for.
• Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

9. Free trials and introductory offers

Where a free trial or introductory price is offered, it applies once per user or per Apple Account family, at our discretion. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at the standard price. Any unused portion of a trial is forfeited if you purchase a subscription earlier.

10. Refunds and cancellation rights

Purchases made through the App Store are subject to Apple's refund policy, and Apple — not us — administers refunds. Requests can be made at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If you are a consumer in the UK or the European Union, you have a statutory right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days; that right may be lost once you have begun using the digital content, as permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

If the app does not work with your television, please contact us before requesting a refund — we will help where we can, and we will tell you honestly if support for your model is not possible.

11. Advertising

The free version of the app displays advertising, which may be supplied by third-party networks. We are not responsible for the content of third-party adverts or for the websites or products they promote. Purchasing Premium removes advertising from the app.

12. Updates and availability

We may release updates that change, add or remove features, including features you use. We may also suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. Where a discontinuation materially affects a paid subscription, we will give reasonable notice and, where required by law, an appropriate refund of any unused prepaid period.

13. Intellectual property

The app, its source code, design, interface, logo, name, website copy and all related materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. You may not use our name or logo without our prior written permission.

14. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not warrant that the app will be compatible with your television, that connections will be maintained without interruption, or that manufacturer firmware changes will not affect functionality.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) £20 or the equivalent in your local currency.

Nothing in these Terms limits your rights as a consumer where applicable law does not permit such a limitation.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

17. Termination

These Terms apply for as long as you use the Service. You may end the agreement at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 13 to 16 survive termination.

18. Terms relating to Apple

You acknowledge that:

• these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not a party to them;
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
• if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation;
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims;
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you; and
• you will comply with all applicable third-party terms when using the app, and you confirm you are not located in a country subject to a relevant embargo and are not on any restricted-party list.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.

20. Changes and contact

We may amend these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date shows the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app or on this website before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
